Job Description

Aspire Cambridge are recruiting for a PCB Assembly Inspector on behalf of our client in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

Start: Immediate
Hours: Mon to Thurs 8am to 4:15pm & Fri 8am to 2pm
Location: St Ives, PE28
Salary: Circa £23,000

This is a key role to add strength to our clients existing quality inspection team. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for the checking the quality of assembled PCB’s populated with both SMD and PTH components and for the quality of finished products. You will be competent in using a variety of different software tools and equipment to ensure the highest quality standards are maintained across the business.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • To carry out inspection to IPC-610 and J-Std standards.
  • To engage and support the other quality inspectors where quality standard doubts exist on assembled products.
  • Ensure all output targets are met or notice of delay given to the Manufacturing Manager.
  • Adherence to all material handling processes.
  • Adherence to all Health & Safety processes and procedures.
  • Good housekeeping of workbench, general assembly area and rework areas.

Education/Qualifications/Special Training
Previous experience of PCB inspection is essential

Experience

  • Current certification of IPC-610 (latest revision).
  • Current certification of J-Std.
  • Experience of working in an ISO9001 – 2015 accredited company
  • Experience of quality inspection in a technical environment
  • Experience of working in an area handling static sensitive electronic components and assemblies
  • Providing support to other manufacturing departments
  • Working with other staff / departments to resolve manufacturing quality difficulties
  • Working in a multi product, mixed manufacturing environment
  • Experience of PCB assembly using both pick & place systems and hand assembly
  • Experience of product assembly including plastic mouldings, fasteners, wiring, cables etc

Key Job Skills
Essential

  • Competent in using a wide range of software tools and specialist inspection equipment.
  • Organisational skills, able keep work area clean and free from debris.
  • Able to prioritise workload and quote accurate timescales.
  • Ability to read, understand and act on printed reports and instructions
  • Health and Safety Awareness
  • Effective Communicator (written and verbal)

Desirable

  • Current certification of IPC-610 (latest revision).
  • Any experience of automated inspection.
  • Current certification of IPC 7711 & 7211 standards.
  • Technical / engineering interest
  • J-Std certification
  • Able to understand circuit layout and component schematics.
