Job Description

aspire cambridge is seeking a highly motivated Device Development Engineer to work within its clients expanding R&D team in Sedgefield, County Durham.

The successful candidate will focus on carrying out device fabrication, electrical testing, developing processes and designing experiments for materials screening and integration. The candidate should have a good understanding and some experience of the fabrication and evaluation of thin films, micro-electronics and/or MEMS.

Key tasks:

  • Develop devices and experiments to investigate functional layers
  • Perform complex experimental work, encompassing:
    • Detailed process flows, and device fabrication
    • Device inspection through the fabrication process
    • Test, analysis and interpretation of device electrical performance
    • Refinement of processes
    • Review with colleagues and external partners, planning of further series of trials
    • Preparation of technical reports and presentations summarising experimental procedure and trial outcomes

Qualifications and training:

  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in Electronic Engineering, Physics, Materials science or Chemistry
  • Good computer literacy skills including documents, spreadsheets, databases and presentations

Hours: Monday-Friday, Full Time
