We understand that the economic impact of the Covid-19 outbreak has been devastating, many people have lost their jobs and face financial uncertainty.
Companies are cutting back on services, businesses furloughing staff and temporarily shutting down. During this challenging period of uncertainty it is important to remain calm in the knowledge that it will pass.
We’re in this together and you are not alone. For most business owners and leaders, we’re still early in the process of strategic and commercial grief; it’s not too dissimilar to a loss of life grief. As leaders, we need to demonstrate thoughtful resilience and fast forward to the “acceptance” phase of grief. Acceptance that Covid-19 is going to impact your business. Acceptance that placing all future plans on hold is possibly not the best method when you are looking to “bounce-back” in the coming weeks or maybe months. We believe, that the best method is to raise your game, your leadership and lead your business with decisiveness and at speed.
But it’s not all doom and gloom…
Here at Aspire Cambridge, our purpose is to “Keep Britain Working” and make lives easier through innovative workforce solutions. We’re not just fair weather supporters of your businesses and we realise that cash flow options are now more important than ever. We truly believe, that there has never been a better time to review your HR documentation, processes and strategic staffing and hiring needs for 2020/2021 and this is why, we’re offering to support you during these times. With that in mind, we share with you the general consensus and feedback we’ve received during these challenging times;
Two of the main challenges we understand your facing are;
- Not being able to onboard a candidate in an office environment
- Permanent recruitment has been put on hold for budget reasons
Tip: Look to place agency workers. A quick win is if you have a temp that has previously worked for the company, you should be more willing to onboard them even if it is a WFH environment. Alternatively if you do not have the headcount budget but have budget to use on marketing, IT, risk agencies etc, you can look to place an agency workers with their 3rd party suppliers. This means that you get the temp, but the expense is allocated to the functional cost line and not the temporary headcount cost line.
When times are uncertain cash is king. Companies are heavily scrutinising their outgoings and stretching their payments. Sometimes it is difficult for companies to ask for payment, especially as business communities are built through relationships. First of all, you shouldn’t be afraid to ask for payment. This shows that you delivered a great service that deserves payment.
However, and in unprecedented times, it’s crucial that you maximise the support network that you already have in place, and don’t be afraid to ask for additional support through relevant experts.
- Free HR Health Check
- Reduced Introductory Rates for the Provision of Permanent Appointments
- Reduced Margins for Agency Workers placed into Assignment
- Extended Payment Terms over 3 and 6 months
- Extended Rebate Periods in order to allow the WFH onboarding and settlement
Even though the pandemic may have caused a lot of instability and grief in your business, having this time to reflect and allows you the chance to re-evaluate the type of business you really want and of course the people you hire too. You can still find ways to develop your human capital so that when this crisis eventually ends, you’ll be on a better footing to do so.
