New Year, New Me – Recruitment Trends to look out for in 2020

Much like the ever-changing fashions of our wardrobes, each new year brings with it a flood of interesting new trends, tips and techniques that are set to take the recruitment business by storm. Here at Aspire Cambridge, we have put together some of the top trends set to hit in 2020.

Cloud Computing
With the exponential growth of cloud computing over the past year, there is no doubt that this will be a huge factor in the world of recruitment in 2020. Switching a business to working in ‘the cloud’ has increasingly become less hassle, and we are predicting that more and more businesses will jump on this trend in the coming 12 months.

Flexible Working
With flexible working being not only a rare company perk but now a demand from the majority of workers, 2020 is likely to see a lot more remote working, working from home and flexitime. 2019 has already seen experiments happening globally with a four-day working week, as Gen-Z and Millennial workers are calling for a bigger focus on work-life balance.

The uncertainty of Brexit is without doubt something that has dominated the headlines, and the recruitment industry, over the past weeks, months and arguably years. Whatever the outcome of Brexit, it will still undoubtably be a big issue in 2020, despite the impact being impossible to predict at the moment. One thing we know for sure is that the candidate-driven market will be as productive as ever, with employers having to secure top talent and address shortages.

Social Media
Social Media and social purpose are progressively becoming more important to a business in order to secure Gen-Z or Millennial workers. While this may not be the most important factor in a recruitment business, it is an important factor to the younger demographic. We can expect to see this importance increase throughout 2020, as companies choose to hire younger employees.

Technology and AI
A subject of continuous exposure and scrutiny is the place of technology and AI within recruitment. With the growth of new software, by 2020 the ideas and concepts of AI in 2019 will have become reality, and recruiters will need to ensure that they embrace the technology that can help their business and keep an open mind.
