It is expected that by 2025, milliennials will make up 75% of the working population. It is essential that as a business and employer you think of ways that you attract and keep the best millennial talent. Millennials are not interested in the traditional recruitment techniques and approaches.
In this blog post Aspire Cambridge has put together some top tips for what your business can do to attract millennials that are looking for work. However, as always, if you ever need help with your interviewing, hiring or recruitment, just give us a call.
- You need be transparent and direct in the way you speak in job adverts, on social media and in interviews. Millennials are looking to work for companies that share their values. By sharing photos of your team, your company culture and things you do to support the local community and charities you will be showing millennials exactly what they want to see from their future recruiter.
- Millennials were born into technology and the online world; they don’t remember a world before the internet and mobile phones. This means they will research companies online. You need to think about what you are posting online and the message it portrays about your business. Make sure you review your Glassdoor review as well, as respond to posters accordingly.
- An office full of paperwork, photocopiers and fax machines will not be attractive to a potential millennial employee. If your company is still paper and admin heavy millennials will be baffled by your lack of efficiency. You need to move with the times, technology wise, to keep up with the competition and attract the right candidates too.
Just as non-millennial employees want to work in a business where morale is high, millennial employees do too. Make sure your existing team are positive and satisfaction levels are high. As new employees join the business they will match this team morale and the more satisfied everyone is, the longer they will stay within the business.
