Every single one of us at some time will have had moments or even days of un-productivity and procrastination – this is not something that makes you feel terribly good about your day and it is unlikely to be something that your boss praises you for either.
We have put together four top tips to help ensure that you have a successful day with maximum productivity and minimum procrastination; ensuring that as 5pm comes round your task list has a serious dent to it and you feel you have really achieved something in your day; a feeling of pride.
- Get Up Early
There are numerous signs of links between early risers and successful people in many studies; for example a study by Christopher Randler, a Harvard Biologist, found that early risers are generally more productive. Go to bed that little bit earlier, try and get that 8 hours uninterrupted sleep and you’ll feel much better for it – try and stick to the same routine at the weekend too as persistence is key in becoming an early riser.
- Get Some Exercise
We are always being told about the benefits of exercise and this is nothing new to hear; while we are not suggesting a 4am gym class or swim in the local river to wake you up, a quick 30 minute walk in the morning on an empty stomach will help refresh your mind while waking up your body. Doing any form of regular exercise is great for both your happiness and physical help, but it will also give you a burst of energy for the day ahead and help make it easier to regulate your sleep patterns too.
- Grab Some Breakfast
As a child you were continually told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and this is true; having breakfast in the morning will help regulate your metabolism but also keep cravings at bay as the day goes on. You’ll also find that having breakfast helps aid your memory, concentration and focus. If you’re hungry all day this will not help you have a successful day so make sure you have something for breakfast.
- Be Positive
You would be surprised at how much a little bit of positive thinking can alter your state of mind and your day. Think of three things every day that you are grateful for, no matter how big or small – this could be that you’re grateful for the rain as it saves you watering the plants in the garden, you’re grateful for the lunch your partner made you for work or similar. Whatever you are grateful for, just be grateful.
