East of England, 1st March 2017, IoD Director of the Year Awards announced today that Kelly Haston FIRP DipRP, Managing Director of Aspire Cambridge has been shortlisted for Director of the Year Award in the 2017 IoD Director of the Year Awards, sponsored by Barclays.
The Institute of Directors Director of the Year Awards celebrate the very best in UK business. They are a public recognition of the key role that directors play, not only in the UK’s economy but also in job preservation and creation. They place emphasis on individual excellence and achievement.
The Awards are open to all Directors (or equivalent level position), both IoD members and non-members, from within the private, public and voluntary sectors, across the whole of the East of England of the IoD.

The Director of the Year – East of England Judges are now reviewing shortlisted candidates in each category and making decision regarding finalists before further announcements during the first week of April. The Director of the Year Awards – East of England Region luncheon will be held on Friday 28th April 2017 in Newmarket, Suffolk.

In 2008, Kelly founded Aspire Cambridge, formally known as aspire recruitment solutions.
The recruitment industry has changed dramatically, with approaches to recruitment techniques developing in parallel with the introduction of new digital technologies and platforms. Kelly’s career in recruitment and human resources started in 2004, she has a wealth of experience in these industries and have succeeded despite recessions, market changes and more recently the speculation surrounding Brexit. From humble beginnings, Aspire Cambridge was set up by it’s founder, Kelly Haston. Kelly started her business venture in 2008, from her one bedroomed terrace house, on the outskirts of Cambridge. Her mum came up with the name aspire recruitment solutions, over a roast dinner back in 2007, after bashing many different names about – they promise, no chickens were harmed in the process! Later this changed to Aspire Cambridge with the introduction of their human resource services division.
Kelly became inspired to set up her own recruitment business, because she saw a gap in the market – it was the people element that was missing from her introduction recruitment whilst working for a local independent agency. Her mission was to offer a more personalised and transparent approach to recruitment and help great businesses find great people and brilliant people to find brilliant businesses!
After working 17 hours a day, managing up to 148 vacancies at any one time with just one employee in the early stages, Aspire Cambridge has continued to spread its wings. Now nine years on, three offices later, several fluttering pink butterflies flying about, and a kaput panasonic telephone the business keeps expanding. They even still have the original HP laptop in the business today!
