A recent survey conducted by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has shown that more and more workers are looking to work on a temporary basis.
41% of people surveyed said they were considering working in a temporary capacity, either contract, freelance or agency, in the future.
The survey by the REC named Flex Appeal asked 4000 people from the general public a number of questions regarding temporary work. Furthermore, the survey also enquired how temporary workers had found their experience.
From the survey, the REC found that 1 in 4 had been a temporary worker at some point. 22% of people who currently earn more than £50,000 and 36% of people who currently have hiring responsibilities have been agency workers themselves.
From those that said they chose temporary work, the majority believed that temporary work gave them greater flexibility and a better work-life balance. The research also suggested that temporary work was particularly beneficial for: entry level workers, people with specialist skills, adults with caring responsibilities, people approaching retirement.
