Aspire Cambridge contributing to the local community
Working with Cottenham Village College, Aspire Cambridge have been helping Year 10’s with employability skills. Two of our staff members from the Aspire Cambridge recruitment and human resources department, Kayleigh and Laura, worked with Cottenham Village College and their year 10 students as part of Wexibility day. The aim of the session was to help students get “hired not fired”.
What happened during the day?
The session was split into two parts, firstly the team spoke about Aspire Cambridge and a little bit about what all of our different departments did. The group then split into two and discussed how to prepare for an interview, how to conduct themselves at an interview, what to do after the interview, and how to present themselves.
Several rounds of training interviews took place until the best interviewee was chosen by the rest of their class. The students at Cottenham Village College then turned the tables and interviewed our experienced recruitment consultant. This was to find out what employers and recruiters are looking for during interviews.
“Thank you so much for taking part in our Conference Day today. The students really appreciated your input and we are really grateful for your support.” – Sue Halifax, IAG Coordinator at Cottenham Village College.
