Writing The Pitch Perfect CV

Did you know that on average a recruiter receives around 250 CVs for each job they advertise – there is a lot of competition out there for every job application that you submit so how can you write the pitch perfect CV to ensure that your CV gets seen and maybe even lands you the job of your dreams?

The tricky part is that there is no hard and fast rule to creating the pitch perfect CV but there are steps you can put into place to ensure that you put your best foot forward when applying for a job role with your CV.

Here, aspire cambridge introduces you to Neville’s process. Neville Rose is the director of CV Writing and he strongly recommends that you follow the 4 P’s to create a pitch perfect CV that will get you noticed by recruitment agencies when you are applying for job roles.

These four P’s are Pace, Positivity, Professionalism and Personality;

Pitch Perfect CV P1: Pace

A CV is like an advert for yourself and as with all adverts you only have a few seconds to grab the attention of the reader so ensure that you get your message across promptly so you do not lose the attention of the recruiter. Consider which action words the recruiter will be looking for based on the job description. By including relevant action words you will not only demonstrate your expertise but you’ll also add energy and interest to your CV.

Pitch Perfect CV P2: Positivity

Throughout your CV make sure you stay positive, this is often where some candidates slip up, especially when talking about past employees or job roles. If you can exude positivity throughout your CV you will attract the reader to find out more about you and if you do have negative experiences shine a positive light on them by explaining them as a valuable learning opportunity.

Pitch Perfect CV P3: Professionalism

It really should go without saying but it is vitally important that your CV is professional. You need to make sure that you have no spelling mistakes or grammatical errors within your CV as these will not give the recruiter the right impression. Take the time to execute your CV with care and attention and even get a friend to read through it with a fresh pair of eyes.

Pitch Perfect CV P4: Personality

You are what makes your CV stand out from all the other CVs so do not be afraid of injecting your own personality into your CV along with your career history and experiences. By showing you are the perfect fit for the job role and the company culture you will stand out from the crowd and be more likely to win that dream job you are applying for.
